Electrode Development

• Development and implementation of catalyst and electrodic Structures, their physico-chemical characterization and electrochemical testing, for both Traditional Electrodes (DSA® anodes and DSE® electrodes), and GDE®.

• Electrochemical Services to DE NORA.

Analytical Department

• Gives special analytical assistance to the R&D Team to support catalyst, coatings and electrodes development

• Gives analytical services to DE NORA Companies.  

Electrolyzer Development

This function is dedicated to development and optimization of electrolyzer design (current and new generations), from the functional, mechanic and fluid-dynamic point of view. Testing and qualification of new solutions/components/operating strategies are carried on with the help of mechanical test facilities and electrochemical operating cells. Activities:

• Functional studies:Analysis of the process and related requirements for the electrolyzer, and definition of his principal parameters/design issues
• Mechanical and Material studies: Selection of materials for process fluids compatibility, for structural and electrical requirements.
• Fluid-dynamic studies: Analysis of the internal fluid distributions for the optimum thermal and mass transport.
• Testing and qualification: Collection of results and analysis of them from experiments in the Test Laboratories.

• Scale-up from Lab to Pilot and Demo electrolyzers: Management for the R&D projects assigned by customers (internal or external), starting from the Pilot unit in the Laboratory up to Pilot or Demo units of industrial representative scale.

Process & Technical Assistance

Experienced people belong to this group that carries on process development and optimization activities for existing and future technologies and supplies all type of supervision services for on site activities.

Engineering

This function is dedicated to the mechanical design and to the realization of specifications and construction drawings for all the “Electrochemical Systems” produced by De Nora, including all equipment and accessories for the assembly, disassembly and maintenance of electrolyzers and ancillary equipment In addition to that , the function provides “engineering services”, related to the electrolyzers and cell rooms, for all De Nora's companies.

Patent & Licensing

Focuses on all patent and trademark matters for all the companies of DE NORA, as well as drafting of Secrecy, Testing, Research & Development and License Agreements.
